The requirements from the high voltage and ultra-high voltage power lines are extremely demanding in terms of the transmission capacity of the cables used in them. In order to meet these requirements, conductors with a cross-section of up to 2,500 mm2 have been developed with the aim of minimizing any loss. Significant increases in efficiency levels have been achieved through the introduction of XLPE cross-linked polyethylene as insulation in high voltage cables as well as through conductor segmentation. Based on these advances and on our own design innovations, increases in cable transmission capacity of up to 15% can be achieved.
