In order to meet these requirements, conductors with a cross-section of up to 2,500 mm2 have been developed with the aim of minimizing any loss. Significant increases in efficiency levels have been achieved through the introduction of XLPE cross-linked polyethylene as insulation in high voltage cables as well as through conductor segmentation.
